Do I need a low spin driver?
We get a lot of customers asking for extra distance and they believe that lowering the spin rate of the golf ball will give them this. True! It will, but only for the golfers that hit the golf ball hard, have fast swing speeds essentially and golfers that hit down on their drives. The player that generates more speed usually generates more spin, so by decreasing the loft and having the centre of gravity forward in the head, this should help lower the backspin. BUT...by doing this, it can also mean there can be more side curvature on the golf ball so that means there is more of a chance of more fairways being missed. All in all, it is not essential to have a low spinning driver, sometimes it is better to sacrifice distance for accuracy. Call in and have a chat with Aled and Will and see if we can improve your driving today.
