Range news

Winter is Coming!

With the weather taking a turn for the worse and the floodlights being turned on at the driving range for the first time for quite a few months...WINTER IS COMING!

But don't panic, we have you covered. We will be open as usual throughout the winter as we have a flood-lit driving range and bays - The only thing that we're missing are outsideheaters! Through the winter we shall be open as follows:

Monday - 9am - 8:30pm
Tuesday - 9am - 8:30pm
Wednesday - 9am - 8:30pm
Thursday - 9am - 8:30pm
Friday - 9am - 7:30pm
Saturday - 10am - 6pm
Sunday - 10am - 4pm

Last balls will be dispensed 1 hour before closing.

Fitting news

PXG Fitting Days

Matt from PXG will be here on the following dates below to fit your game like you have never been fitted before. Matt is one of few master golf club fitters in the UK and even Europe.

Thursday, 3 October – 12:00pm - 6:00pm

PING Fitting Day

Although a while in the future, PING are hosting a Fitting Day where you can try their latest range of products.

The PING putters will be on show as well as the new ladies PING G Le2, Men’s 410 range and new specialist wedges.

Titleist Demo Day

Join Tim and the team from Titleist on hitting all of the latest equipment that they have to offer. The new irons, woods and driving irons will be available. Tim will be here on the following date and time:

Jaws are here!

The new Callaway Mack Daddy 5 Jaws wedges have landed, and first impressions are that it’s an absolutely beautiful-looking wedge. The Mack Daddy 5 is available in Chrome or Tour Grey, and in lofts from 46 through to 64 degrees in various grinds.

With the new Jaws grooves, we’ve noticed that there is a lot more spin generated on the ball than other wedges, and we particularly noticed that balls stopped a lot quicker from 80 yards and in.

Overall, the wedge looks great, is forgiving, and spins a lot, makiing it a “must go in the bag”. Pop in and have a go a one of the demo wedges at any time, or enquire further by contacting us here.

Joke of the week

Naughty Jim!

While sitting at a table in the clubhouse after a game, Padraig remarked to a fellow club member,
"I'm not going to play golf with Jim anymore - He cheats".
"Why do you say that?" asked his friend.
"Well, he found his 'lost' ball two feet from the green", replied Padraig indignantly.
'That's entirely possible', commented his friend.
"Not when I had his golf ball in my pocket!", retorted Padraig with finality.

They've done it again

Winter is coming

Have you ever noticed how much harder you need to hit your putts in the winter compared to summer? As surfaces begin to slow due to longer grass and wetter greens, the need for a little extra effort on your putting stroke becomes clear.

Should you change your putter?

As putts need to be hit harder to get the ball going the same distance as they do in the summer months, using a heavier putter certainly won’t do you any harm.

The thought here is that a heavier putter will do more of the work for you, allowing for a smooth and more controlled putting stroke.

Whilst still being relatively lightweight compared to some putters, Scotty Cameron's Phantom X 12 putter is certainly an option we'd recommend you trying thanks to its optimised weight distribution.
